Celtic fans will be pleased they managed to claim the three points from Aberdeen on Saturday, and they were in a jubilant mood on Sunday morning too. It’s been Alan Thompson’s birthday and supporters were more than happy to heap praise on their ex-wideman through Twitter.
The Englishman played for the Hoops from 2000 and 2007, costing the club just £3.96m to bring him from Aston Villa. It was at Celtic Park where he enjoyed the best of his career, making 65 appearances and bagging 15 goals and nine assists during that time. He even managed to score three goals in the Champions League from 14 games too.
The club posted a happy birthday message on their official Twitter account, saying he was the “scorer of many great goals for the Hoops”, and fans agreed. They reminisced about the time Thompson was wearing the famous green and white and praised him for how great a servant he was for the club.
