Celtic fans have slammed referee Alan Muir following their side’s 2-1 victory against Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.
Neil Lennon’s side eased into the Scottish Cup last 16 at Firhill as they target a fourth consecutive treble. Goals from Leigh Griffiths and Callum McGregor ensured that the dream of a trio of trophies once again remained very much alive. The result was not the issue with the Celtic Park faithful, but the referee Alan Muir and the decisions that he made during the 90 minutes.
#Celtic make it 32 straight cup wins but again a dire refereeing display is the big talking point. 2 dodgy calls by Alan Muir were absolutely indefensible. The stonewall pen Frimpong didn’t get & the penalty awarded against him were diabolical.
Muir should face SFA action & a ban— Brian McNally (@McNallyMirror) January 18, 2020
Two decisions during the game were the focal point of supporters’ frustrations. Jeremie Frimpong had penalty appeals waved away in the first half after he was brought down in the box following a shove in the back from Partick’s James Penrice. However, the Dutchman was penalised late in the second-half after a similar barge to Dario Zanatta was adjudged to have been enough to award the hosts a penalty, which Stuart Bannigan converted.

I said much the same thing Brian, whether it`s incompetence or bias, his performance should be looked at.

Muir , cheating Celtic again, from the ICT semi final until tonight , giving cheating decisions again us and not giving clear offences against us. @ScottishFA
