Celtic: Fans stunned by Jack Hendry’s contribution in reserve team match

A number of Celtic fans have been reacting with surprise to the contribution of defender Jack Hendry in a friendly for the reserve team.

Tommy McIntyre’s side defeated Chelsea’s under-23 side 1-0 in a match at the London club’s training ground (as per celticfc.net), with @CelticFCAcademy noting a “brilliant sliding tackle” from the 24-year-old in the second half when the teams were still level.

Hendry has struggled badly for first team recognition at Celtic this season, with his only appearance for Neil Lennon’s side an 11-minute cameo off the bench in a 5-0 Betfred Cup hammering of Partick Thistle (via TransferMarkt). Indeed, that is the only game-time that the defender has had during all of Lennon’s time in charge of the Hoops (as per TransferMarkt).

The Scottish Sun recently reported that Hearts were considering a move for Hendry in the January transfer window, with ex-Celtic defender Jackie McNamara telling Football Insider that the 24-year-old should seek a new challenge elsewhere given his lack of action at Parkhead.

These Celtic fans expressed their surprise at Hendry’s important tackle during the reserve team’s win on Wednesday:
