Celtic fans have known for a long time, pretty much since his temporary appointment, that Neil Lennon is not the man for Parkhead. He may be doing a good job now, but in the summer a more long-term option needs to come in. When one Celtic fan account on Twitter suggested Chris Hughton as that man, though, no one liked the idea.

Chris Hughton simply does not get the respect he deserves as a manager. The former Tottenham Hotspur full-back and reliable tactician has masterminded promotion charges for both Newcastle and Brighton from the Championship into the Premier League and has been sacked by both. With Newcastle, he barely even saw out the first season back in the top flight, but Brighton is more of a shock.
The Amex Stadium may have been at serious risk of hosting Championship football again at times this season, but ultimately they pulled through and at Cardiff City’s expense, they stayed up. That’s not the level that the Hoops are looking for, though. At Celtic Park, the Bhoys are demanding a winner come in. Someone with a proven track record and the ability to win in style, and unfortunately, as good as he is, that isn’t Chris Hughton.

The Bhoys have all been pretty clear how they feel on this one and won’t be at all happy if Hughton rocks up at Parkhead over the summer.
