Before the kick-off at Celtic Park, though, the fans were openly questioning the team that Neil Lennon had picked to take on what was their most important game of the season so far as they aimed to make it back to the Champions League group stages after missing out last year.
It will now be at least a two-year absence from the top European competition for the green and white Glasgow side.
Ultimately, the lineup that went out was a questionable one. Neither Christopher Jullien nor Boli Mbombo, the club’s new signings, started. Elsewhere, Scott Sinclair was left out completely, leaving the fans baffled.
