It’s not very often that a young player goes into a first-team squad and completely revolutionises the club, yet somehow the young Kieran Tierney has done that at Celtic. The young Scottish left-back is one of the best young full-backs in the world and when he returned yesterday the Bhoys were absolutely beside themselves.

Unfortunately for Tierney, he was unable to make his return to action with a clean sheet, but he did help his side to an impressive 4-1 win over a sorry Motherwell side in front of the Parkhead faithful. The 21-year-old could only manage just under 70 minutes before being hooked as he continues to up his return, but just seeing him back in action will have come as a huge boost to Brendan Rodgers.
The last game that the young defender featured in for the Bhoys was in their final Europa League group stage match. The Bhoys lost that game 2-1 and had no idea that after watching Tierney complete 90 minutes that he would not be featuring again for over two months before his return yesterday. That lengthy absence is behind them now, though, so they’ll be confident of kicking on to better things.

Not a single player in the Hoops’ squad is revered quite as highly as Tierney is and the fans will just be delighted to have their star man back to fitness.
