Celtic confirmed on Thursday afternoon that left-back Greg Taylor has signed a new long-term deal at Parkhead.
The Lowdown: Taylor key under Postecoglou
Taylor, who was in and out of the Celtic side under Neil Lennon last season, has been a regular under Ange Postecoglou when fully fit.
He started 11 of Postecoglou’s first 12 games in charge before suffering a shoulder injury in September. The 24-year-old hasn’t featured since and has undergone surgery, but he’s been able to commit his future at Celtic Park as a result.
The Latest: Taylor signs new deal
Taylor officially penned new terms at Parkhead which will keep him at the club until 2025.
Celtic shared the news regarding the left-back on Twitter and Instagram on Friday afternoon to kickstart the weekend, with Taylor’s teammates Joe Hart and Josip Juranovic buzzing at the news on the latter of the social media sites.
Hart labelled it as ‘great work’, whereas Juranovic, who has filled in at left-back in Taylor’s absence, sent two fire emojis.
The Verdict: More good news…
Celtic appear to have their full-back ranks sorted for the foreseeable future, with Taylor following in right-back Anthony Ralston’s footsteps by penning new terms.
Juranovic can also play on either side, so the three appear to be Postecoglou’s main men at full-back.
Both Taylor and Ralston have taken the chances handed to them by Postecoglou with both hands this season after being bit-part players under Lennon, and hopefully, they’ll continue their impressive form after being rewarded by the club.
