Celtic January transfers: Rodgers seriously should seal deals for these 2 this week

Such is the nature of life under Brendan Rodgers right now, the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are found dancing on the pool tables in the Transfer Tavern more often than not right now.

Still unbeaten domestically, the Bhoys in the bar are delighted they can just enjoy the January transfer market without really needing to bring anyone in with any great haste.

However, as much as they are enjoying this campaign, there’s little doubt the Hoops propping up the bar are hopeful Rodgers can make them more competitive in the Champions League next term.

With that in mind, some astute additions this month could afford any arrival a good few months to bed into the club before pushing on with what is hopefully a strong continental campaign next term.

So this could really be an important month for Rodges at Parkhead and perhaps a chance to really strengthen ahead of 2017-18.

Considering all of this, here are TWO transfer deals he should look to tie up this week.

Henri Lansbury

It’s not clear where Henri Lansbury will be at the end of the month, having been linked with both Celtic and Aston Villa of late.

However, if there’s still a deal to be done, the Hoops should do all they can to land the 26-year-old.

A wonderfully dynamic central midfielder, he’d be a big coup for the SPFL and someone who’d relish playing for a club like Celtic.

Joe Gomez

Signed under Rodgers at Liverpool in the summer of 2015, impressive young defender Joe Gomez recently made his comeback from a lengthy injury absence for the Reds.

Naturally, he’s been linked with a loan move to Glasgow as he looks to continue his development following a nightmare last few months.

Perhaps a move similar to that of Patrick Roberts’, joining on an 18-month loan deal this time last year, could be good for all parties as the 19-year-old continues to impress as a ball-playing central defender.
