It would obviously take a disaster beyond all imagination for Celtic not to the SPFL crown once more this season, much to the delight of the Hoops propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern. 

As happy as the Bhoys in the bar are about their 24-game unbeaten run this season, there’s little doubt Brendan Rodgers is constructing a long-term project at Parkhead and his job is by no means in Glasgow just yet.

Which is why the January transfer window represents such an interesting time for the Hoops. As the Northern Irishman tries to make the Scottish giants more competitive in the Champions League, every window counts.

Clearly, the likes of bitter rivals Rangers, as well as Aberdeen, are extremely behind the Parkhead titans, though taking their foot off the gas now could have seriously big implications in the long run.

With that in mind, here are TWO things the Bhoys should be fearful about in the January transfer window.

Selling too soon

There’s little doubt the likes of Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney will be of interest to European powerhouses as they continue to impress in Rodgers’ vibrant and dynamic young side. Though the Hoops must be realistic in keeping such talents, they need to sell at the right time.

The January transfer market is renowned for seeing buying clubs get desperate, so Celtic should be wary of feeling pressured into selling.

Not paying attention to the youth

With Champions League football so readily available to the Bhoys now (with all due respect to the teams in the qualifying rounds, Celtic are only likely to get stronger), the idea of luring top names back to Glasgow will obviously be tempting.

However, the Hoops are now in prime position to build a long-term dynasty at Celtic Park and acquiring burgeoning young talent would be a better move going forward.
