Celtic must make ambitious move for £6.3m-rated World Cup winner to partner Edouard properly

Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are packing their bags for Armenia after their first Champions League qualifier was revealed.

The Hoops will begin their campaign away to Alashkert on 11 July, with the return leg at Celtic Park a week later. Brendan Rodgers faced exits from both the Champions League and Europa League last season. He will be hoping to guide his side to their third successive appearance in the group stages against the Armenian champions.

Our regulars are hoping to conclude some transfer deals before their trip across Europe. Rodgers has sealed one deal thus far, a £9m move to make Odsonne Edouard’s loan move from Paris St Germain permanent. To be successful in Europe, they need a striker with experience.

Therefore, the perfect signing could be Tottenham Hotspur forward – Fernando Llorente. Valued at £6.3m by Transfermarkt, the Spaniard is facing an exit after struggling to displace Harry Kane as Spurs’ number nine. The 33-year-old started just one Premier League game last season – he scored only five goals in all competitions.

Despite his disappointing season, his lack of goals can be attributed to his lack of appearances. In the 2016/17 season with Swansea, the former Sevilla forward netted an impressive 15 goals in 33 appearances. Llorente has European experience with Juventus and Athletic Bilbao which could prove invaluable to Rodgers on his quest for glory in Europe.

If he can rediscover his form, he could be lethal in the Scottish Premiership.
