Plenty of Celtic fans have been reacting to comments made by manager Neil Lennon about defender Boli Bolingoli.
Celtic-focused Twitter account @90MinuteCynic shared a clip from a press briefing in which the manager gave a blunt response when asked if the Belgian left-back was carrying an injury. Lennon replied: “No, he’s just not in the squad at the minute. You know, he’s just having a bit of time out to get his top form back.”

Bolingoli, who joined the club last summer, has made 27 appearances so far for the Hoops but has not played in any of the team’s four matches so far in 2020, failing to even make the substitutes’ bench in the last three Premiership games (as per TransferMarkt). Jonny Hayes was preferred at left-back against Kilmarnock and Ross County, with Greg Taylor coming in for the midweek win at St Johnstone.
His last outing came in the derby defeat to Rangers at the end of December, after which his performance was slammed by some Celtic fans on a day when he often coughed up possession cheaply and committed careless fouls. However, the 24-year-old has had some good days for the Hoops, with many fans lauding his previous derby outing in the 2-0 win in September.
Lennon’s comments on Bolingoli drew a mixed reaction from these Celtic fans, with some defending the Belgian left-back and others feeling rather underwhelmed by his time at the club so far:
Bolingoli, the only guy that finds better form from not playing. Lennon would be better letting Kennedy do the pressers.

He’s better than Hayes, get him back in the squad. Taylor played well last night, deserves a start on Sunday but if he drops off then Boli should go back in.
Ross County were exposing Hayes, he’s not up to it.

Find it strange he’s out in the cold after being injured then playing a couple games before Xmas. Surely Lennon can’t think Hayes is a better option than Boli

Boli has been dreadful. Barring an injury crisis at the position I doubt we’ll see him again.

Boli has been very poor from day 1. Odd half decent game but his positioning is dreadful . Another gamble that handy worked by looks of it. Shved koussai Morgan bayo. Dissapointing
