Celtic confirmed on their official website celticfc.net on Thursday that midfielder Eboue Kouassi has completed a loan move to Belgian club Genk for the remainder of the season, with the news also shared on the club’s Twitter channel @CelticFC.

The 22-year-old, who came to Parkhead from FC Krasnodar three years ago in a £3m deal (as per STV Sport), had drifted to the periphery of the Hoops’ squad, having not played or even been named on the bench in 2019/20 prior to being loaned out. The Ivory Coast native has made just 22 appearances at Celtic in his time at the club, all of which came under Brendan Rodgers’ watch, and has not been considered for first team action by current Hoops boss Neil Lennon.
Injuries and illness have ravaged Kouassi’s abortive Celtic career, with the midfielder missing two months in 2017 due to an ankle injury and then rupturing his cruciate ligament against Hearts in October 2018, which remains his most recent appearance for the club. Shortly after he joined the Hoops, he was struck down by malaria, as reported by The Scottish Sun.
The news of Kouassi’s loan move to Genk split opinion among these Celtic fans on Twitter, with some continuing to have faith in the 22-year-old and others believing he has no future at Parkhead:
