Liverpool sources have stressed that a deal for Celtic youngster Ben Doak is still not finalised, according to The Liverpool Echo.

The Lowdown: Doak in demand

The 16-year-oldmade his senior debut for the Hoops earlier this year but is yet to agree a professional contract at Parkhead.

That resulted in the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea looking at the winger back in January, with Bayern Munich and Manchester City also name-checked with an interest.

Reports earlier in the week suggested that a move to Anfield was edging closer, but as we know, an agreement is yet to be announced.

The Latest: Source drops Ben Doak update

The Liverpool Echo shared a story regarding Doak on Saturday afternoon.

They were informed by Anfield sources that a deal is still not complete, with those sources yet to confirm a reported £150,000 compensation fee the Hoops may receive.

The Verdict: Glimmer of hope for Celtic?

Links over a move to Merseyside have been ongoing since January, but this latest update appears to give Celtic one last bit of hope of keeping the teenager at the club.

It does seem like his exit is inevitable, but the longer that talks go on without any confirmation, some Hoops fans may be hoping that the teenager could make a U-turn and sign professional terms in Glasgow.

Doak hasn’t been seen in Celtic’s last eight matchday squads, though, which could be a telling sign as to his future.
