Former Celtic star Chris Sutton has declared that the Bhoys are a “much bigger” club than the four-time Premier League winners Manchester City.
Sutton makes huge jibe
The Englishman featured on the BBC’s 606 show where a number of issues regarding Scottish and English football were being discussed.
Don’t forget, Celtic have won nine-straight league titles and also have a European Cup win to their name, which they picked up in 1967 with the Lisbon Lions (via the Irish Times).
Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live (14/11, 6:29 pm), Sutton answered a question that was put forward by Savage as to who was the bigger team.
“Come on, who’s got the star on the jersey? Celtic are much bigger, of course, we’ve had this argument with Celtic and Leicester.
“It’s true, get your head around it, they are a bigger club.
“Man City might have the money, Celtic have the history, Celtic have the European Cup.”
Transfer Tavern take
Celtic fans will rejoice over this. Hearing praise about their football club will always go down well with Hoops’ fans, especially from a former player.
The Hoops have had some legendary players come and go through the gates of Parkhead, including Sir Kenny Dalglish, Henrik Larsson and Billy McNeill to name a few.
If they secure 10-in-a-row, this will only solidify Sutton’s argument but are having to play catchup with arch-rivals Rangers at this time.
