Celtic: Fans unimpressed with Diego Laxalt after Old Firm derby debut
Celtic manager Neil Lennon handed summer loan signing Diego Laxalt his debut today in the Old Firm derby, but it was not a day that the Uruguayan will care to remember fondly.
The Hoops lost the game 2-0, and Laxalt picked up a lowly 6.8 rating, per SofaScore. The Uruguayan international lost possession 26 times and made four fouls in his team’s defeat to Rangers. The defeat leaves Celtic four points behind their table-topping rivals, albeit with a game in hand.
Although the left-back managed to complete both his attempted dribbles and delivered two accurate crosses, it wasn’t enough to prevent many Hoops fans from being unimpressed with his “awful” performance.
Hopefully the poor performance was just a blip and Celtic will be back at their best for their next fixture against Italian giants AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday.
