Former Celtic star Frank McAvennie believes it will be a “sad” day when midfielder Tom Rogic leaves Parkhead.
During that time, Rogic has won six Scottish Premiership titles, four Scottish FA Cups and four Scottish League Cups, and has scored 40 goals and provided 38 assists in 216 appearances before Celtic’s trip to Ross County (Transfermarkt).
Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie would be disappointed to see the Australia international leave if he decides to force a move away.
“I would be sad to see him go because I am a big fan of Rogic,” he said.
“I think he is one of these players who never loses the ball. He can find a pass, he can score, as we saw last week, and he is strong. He is one who I love to watch.
“Rogic is a big game player who has scored some big goals in his time at Celtic.
“He might be one of a few leaving in the summer. I have not seen any fans upset about the players who are reportedly set to leave though. I do not think many fans will be too disappointed to see him go.”
Transfer Tavern Verdict
Taking into account that segments of the fanbase have slated Rogic this season, McAvennie is right when he says that some will not miss him.
Despite this, it is important to highlight what Rogic has brought to the table over the years – and that he has played a huge in Celtic’s success in recent times.
Time will tell whether Rogic will stick around or if he will opt to leave the club. His departure could feel like the end of one era – and the birth of a new one.
