Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Celtic manager Neil Lennon is “one loss away” from losing his job in the Parkhead hot seat.
Lennon on a knife-edge
The Irish tactician has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks, with a group of Bhoys’ fans unveiling a banner pleading to chief executive Peter Lawwell to sack him in order to “save the 10” (via North Curve Celtic).
Speaking with Football Insider, Agbonlahor presented the grim reality that he thinks beckons for Lennon if he falls further behind.
“A club like Celtic do not hang about when the managers are struggling,” he said.
“I think he’s probably one loss away from getting the Celtic sack. There are a number of managers that can take that job and would love that job at Celtic.
“The squad of players have got, they should be performing better than they are. It’s just a matter of time before Neil Lennon gets the sack because Celtic fans are not happy at the moment.”
Transfer Tavern Verdict
With an unprecedented 10-in-a-row currently in the balance, it is probably one of the most difficult spells that Lennon has had to face in his managerial career.
That being said, Celtic still have a game in hand and their destiny is very much still in their own hands with more derby games on the future schedule. As well as this, getting their first win on the board in Europe tonight would be huge.
However, there is only so much time that Lawwell is willing to wait, with reports suggesting that former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is waiting in the wings.
