Former Scotland manager Alex McLeish believes it will be a “huge boost” when Celtic winger James Forrest returns.
Forrest is back
As a result, Forrest has missed the Hoops’ last 13 games and his side have slipped 16 points behind arch-rivals Rangers in their pursuit securing 10-in-a-row.
Speaking with Football Insider, McLeish believes that it will be a ‘huge’ development for the Bhoys squad after news emerged that Forrest is due back on the training pitches at Lennoxtown this month.
“It is a huge boost, he’s been a massive loss for Celtic,” he said.
“There was a time at the beginning of the season when he was missing with three or four others and when you lose that amount of quality from the team it does harm your results, there’s no doubt about it.
“You will be very lucky if you can find four replacements for the key men and they play out of their skin for the next four or five weeks until they come back. It very rarely happens.
“Forrest, even though Celtic have turned the corner in terms of some good results, he’s probably one of those that have been missing more than anyone else.”
Transfer Tavern Verdict
McLeish is spot on – Forrest has been huge for Celtic over the years and his return will be sure to galvanise his teammates with an important run of fixtures coming up.
Lennon’s side have two games against Livingston, as well as two home ties against Hibernian and Hamilton respectively after the Old Firm match on Saturday.
If Forrest is included in any of those games, Celtic are a stronger outfit with his presence in the team.
