Celtic: Predicted XI for SPFL 2020/2021 opener against Hamilton Academical

Celtic: Predicted XI for SPFL 2020/2021 opener against Hamilton Academical - Celtic News

The Scottish Premiership is finally back as the 2020/21 campaign has started this weekend. Celtic will look to defend their title and are also hoping to make history in the country as they look to win their tenth consecutive title in a row.

Their first match is a home game against Hamilton Academical at Parkhead, sadly supporters will not be able to attend due to recent events, but they will be excited for the return as they have been without competitive football since March.

The Hoops have been preparing for the Premiership by playing in some friendlies. They have been in France playing against some of Ligue 1’s best sides. The results haven’t gone their way as they picked up a 1-1 draw against Nice but lost 2-1 to Lyon and then 4-0 to Paris-Saint Germain.

question mark

How many goals did Chris Sutton score for the club?

Here is the TT predicted XI, which sees the Hoops make four changes from their last SPFL game, which was a 5-0 victory against St Mirren.

With Fraser Forster returning to Southampton after his loan has expired and no news of a return as of yet, Celtic will have to use Scott Bain between the sticks.

Meanwhile Young Player of the Year at the club Jeremie Frimpong had a great debut campaign in Scotland last season and he will be hoping he can do more of the same for the new season.

Kristoffer Ajer has been heavily linked with a move away, with AC Milan and also former Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers , who is in charge at Leicester City, reportedly interested, but as it stands he is still at the club and that will be a huge boost for the Scottish side.

Meanwhile Mohammed Elyounoussi, who is valued at £8.55 million, has returned to the club on loan from Southampton and supporters should be happy about this as he played 20 times last season in all competitions and scored seven goals whilst picking up six assists, per Transfermarkt.

What will be huge is the fact that Odsonne Edouard, who has attracted the interest of Arsenal and Newcastle United recently, will be available to lead the line. Last season, the Frenchman managed 27 goals and 19 assists in 45 appearances, per Transfermarkt, whilst also claiming the Golden Boot in the division as he scored 22 goals, per BBC Sport.
