Celtic: Predicted XI to play Livingston

Celtic: Predicted XI to play Livingston - Celtic News

Celtic picked up a narrow 2-1 victory in their last Scottish Premiership match against St Mirren in midweek, but Neil Lennon would surely have liked a more comfortable win in Paisley.

Their games are coming around quickly at the moment and they face Livingston this afternoon in the and will be hoping for another victory to make sure they can capitalise on their game in hand to keep pace with Rangers at the summit.

Here is our predicted XI for today’s match, which sees Lennon make four changes from the win over St Mirren:

With the club having three games in the space of a week, squad rotation is very important. The last two games have seen the Hoops line up in a 3-4-3 formation and it’s clearly working as they have won both matches. Shane Duffy, who has already scored two goals in his first two games for the club, is most likely be partnered alongside Kristoffer Ajer and the rested Christopher Jullien in a back three, whilst Hatem Abd Elhamed could lose his place in the starting XI.

It will be very interesting to see what happens in midfield, as the Hoops have a Europa League qualifying match next Thursday, and this will definitely be on Lennon’s mind as he makes his selection. With Callum McGregor and Scott Brown definite starters, the manager will have to pick between Olivier Ntcham and Ryan Christie, who picked up a 9.8 rating from Sofascore in the victory over St.Mirren as he supplied two assists.

This might see the Hoops select Ntcham over Christie, simply to make sure that the Scotland international is fit and raring to go for the European match as the Hoops will not want to get knocked out of both the Champions League and Europa League qualifiers in the same season.

There could also be a change at right wing-back, with Jeremie Frimpong potentially coming in for James Forrest, having replaced the 29-year-old as a late substitute against the Buddies on Wednesday.

Despite Odsonne Edouard picking up a 5.8 Sofascore rating in the fixture against St Mirren, there is no way that Lennon can drop the talisman who has managed four goals and one assist in his five appearances this term, per Transfermarkt.

However, the last change of the starting XI will likely see Patryk Klimala replaced by Albian Ajeti, who has managed three goals in four appearances since signing from West Ham.
