Celtic: Predicted XI to face Ferencvaros in Champions League qualifier

Celtic: Predicted XI to face Ferencvaros in Champions League qualifier - Celtic News

Celtic picked up a comfortable 1-0 victory against Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership at the weekend to move them up to fourth in the division.

They have two games in hand on Glasgow Rangers and Hibernian who are both level at the top of the league on 13 points. However the Hoops have a quick turnaround as they face Ferencvaros in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers this evening.

It is the second round of the qualifiers, and Celtic picked up a very comfortable 6-0 victory against KR Reykjavík in the last round. Here is the TT predicted XI, which sees Neil Lennon make three changes from the team that won in the league on Saturday.

We could see a lot of change in the back line, star defender Kristoffer Ajer looked to be rested at the weekend as he only came on in the 65th minute for the club against Dundee United. Therefore it looks likely that he will replace Nir Bitton for the fixture. The Celts have placed a £20 million price tag on the 22 year-old to try and stop interested parties like AC Milan and Leicester City from attempting to sign the player.

Meanwhile we could see a similar change to the one Lennon made in the first round of Champions League qualifying, with Jeremie Frimpong making way for Hatem Abd Elhamed in order to keep him fresh.

Despite Celtic being favourites to beat Ferencvaros, Lennon will not see this as an easy game, so strong midfield pairing Callum McGregor and Scott Brown should keep their place in front of the back line.

Mohammed Elyounoussi scored two goals against KR Reykjavik, but his form in the Scottish Premiership has not been good as he has failed to pick up a rating above 6.8 in the division this season, per SofaScore, and is yet to register a goal or assist in the division.

question mark

How many goals did Chris Sutton score for the club?

This should see James Forrest replace Elyounoussi in the line-up after he did not start against Dundee United. The Scotsman, who is valued at £7.20 million, has picked up one assist in the Premiership this season.

Ryan Christie performed very well in the SPFL match against Dundee United, picking up an 8.6 rating, which was the best on the pitch, as he created two key chances, successfully completed all eight of his dribbles and won 13 of his 16 aerial duels, per SofaScore. He should start on the opposite flank to Forrest.
