English broadcaster Sky Sports have reacted swiftly to Celtic manager Neil Lennon and his comments about them on Monday by making a decision which could upset the Hoops boss.
Sky Sports makes statement
The Northern Irish tactician let rip at former Bhoys star and pundit Andy Walker after he questioned the decision to head to Dubai, describing it as a “jolly” (cited by Daily Record).
Lennon also called for a public apology from the television company, and Walker personally, and did not approve of the way that Celtic were portrayed, insisting that they abided by all of the correct regulations.
This came days after chief executive Peter Lawwell apologised for the warm-weather training camp, and told the club’s official website that it was a “mistake” to make the journey with Scotland currently in full lockdown due to the pandemic.
In reaction to this, SunSport revealed that Walker will be on commentary duty for tonight’s trip to Livingston, one of their three games in hand on arch-rivals Rangers, where they have the chance to bridge the 21-point gap in the standings.
Transfer Tavern Verdict
This will surely ruffle Lennon’s feathers further. He did not hold back in his press conference going into this game, so don’t be surprised to hear any further remarks from the Bhoys’ boss.
There’s no doubting how catastrophic this season has been for Celtic, both on and off the pitch, and it’s the club’s fans who have felt the brunt of it all.
If Celtic get a victory tonight, Lennon may place his grievances with Walker to one side but if they lose, be prepared for round two.
