Celtic have tabled a bid of approximately £3million for Cho Gue-sung forward Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has claimed.

The Lowdown: Cho impresses at World Cup

The 24-year-old was an important figure for South Korea at the 2022 World Cup, helping them make it into the last 16, where they eventually lost to Brazil.

Cho scored two goals in just three starts for his country, both of which came in the 3-2 defeat to Ghana, and he has been linked with a move to Celtic.

The Hoops appear to be the front-runners for his signature and a new update further suggests that that is the case.

The Latest: Celtic make £3m bid

Writing on Twitter, Joseph claimed that Celtic have made a bid for Cho, although they are not alone in showing an interest in him:

"UPDATE: Celtic have made a bid of around £3m for South Korea striker Cho Gue-sung. The Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors player is also subject of a similar offer from Mainz, but it’s believed they're not prepared to go much higher. Ferencvaros also interested but have not tabled a bid yet."

The Verdict: Great addition by Hoops

Cho could be an excellent signing by Ange Postecoglou, providing him with added attacking depth this season, especially if Giorgos Giakoumakis moves on this month.

The forward has scored six goals in 20 caps for South Korea, which is a solid return, and his status as a heartthrob in his homeland could work in Celtic's favour in terms of shirt sales and general revenue.

Most importantly, Cho is only 24 and therefore provides the potential of resale value should be flourish in Glashow, while his average of 5.3 aerial duel wins per game at the World Cup shows that he could add something different to the Hoops' attack.
