Peterborough Director of Football Barry Fry has exclusively told The Transfer Tavern that he isn’t surprised that Eddie Howe wants to bring his own backroom staff with him to Celtic.
Despite weeks of uncertainty surrounding the job, the 43-year-old remains the Hoops’ number one target to replace Neil Lennon at Parkhead following his sacking back in February.
Is Howe to Celtic still on?
Lennon’s assistant, John Kennedy, has been placed in interim charge, although he would appear unlikely to get the full-time gig after leading Celtic to just three victories from eight matches.
Howe had previously made a verbal agreement to become the new Celtic manager, but there has been a hold-up in talks, with Howe keen on bringing his own staff to Glasgow.
The former Bournemouth manager wants to bring current Cherries technical director Richard Hughes to Celtic, although in another twist now reports suggest that it’s now unlikely that he would join Howe at Lennoxtown.
But Fry believes that it would be a wise move for Howe to bring Hughes, and the majority of his Bournemouth staff, with him to Scotland.
He told The Transfer Tavern:
“They work well together at Bournemouth. Knowing Eddie, he would want to take the majority of his backroom staff.
“That’s normal in football now, so I don’t think Celtic would have any problems.”
