Share

Celtic were largely active in the January transfer window this year and the signings went down to the final day of the month.

Timothy Weah, Oliver Burke, Maryan Shved and Jeremy Toljan have all been brought into Brendan Rodgers’ side this winter and it appears another two have quickly followed them to Glasgow.

The club confirmed on their official website that American duo Andrew Gutman and Manny Perez had both joined up with The Bhoys on three-and-a-half-year contracts.

The pair are both considered to be talents for the future and will continue their development in the United States of America.

Gutman is a promising defender and was awarded the Hermann Trophy for his performances in the college game – an award that is considered to be one of the most prestigious awards for the youth in the North American continent.

Perez is also an exciting defensive talent, who has been capped by the national side’s Under-20 team and has been named as Player of the Year in the USA Soccer Developmental Academy.

The Verdict:

The arrivals of Gutman and Perez are quite clearly ones for the future and they could turn out to be a great piece of business by Celtic.

Both defenders have started their footballing careers in exciting form and will look to build on that with their respective clubs in their homeland before teaming up with the Scottish Premiership champions.

With the additions that Celtic have made, Rodgers will likely be pleased with the business they have managed to conduct this month.
