Sky Sports have reported this morning that Celtic are in talks with Victor Wanyama about a potential deadline day move to Glasgow.
The 28-year-old previously played at Parkhead from 2011 to 2013, making 91 appearances for the Hoops and scoring 13 goals, including one in a famous Champions League win over Barcelona. He subsequently played for Southampton and Tottenham but has barely featured for Spurs this season, making just four appearances totalling 122 minutes.
Wanyama has been dogged by injuries over the past couple of years, missing almost half of the 2017/18 campaign with a knee injury and encountering a further knee problem last season which ruled him out for 18 matches.
The Kenyan previously played under Lennon during the current manager’s first stint in charge of Celtic, with the 48-year-old telling the club’s AGM in November that he’d like to have Wanyama back at the club (as per Daily Record). Back in September, the Daily Mail reported that the Hoops had considered signing him on a season-long loan during last summer’s transfer window.
These Celtic fans on Twitter don’t seem keen on Wanyama’s potential return to Parkhead:

Wanyama is a good player. But the obsession with signing him does not make sense! He plays in a position we are very well blessed in. Surely a CB and winger are far more important?!

As much as I'd love him back, Wanyama is a distraction.
We need a centre-half.
If we don't get one we have problems regardless of what Lennon has said about being well covered.
We aren't. Especially if he wants a 3-man defence with regularity.
