Christopher Jullien’s 60th-minute goal was enough to ensure that Neil Lennon’s side won the competition for the fourth year in succession.

However, the Hoops had to endure some uncomfortable moments throughout the game. That included a penalty save from Fraser Forster to deny Alfredo Morelos, one of several stops that the goalkeeper made from the Rangers striker. [via Sky Sports]
Sky Sports‘ match report on the game suggested that Jullien’s match-winning goal was “seemingly from a narrowly offside position”, while the statistics would indicate that Celtic were under the cosh for large spells in the game, with the Hoops having just five shots compared to the 16 that Steven Gerrard’s team mustered and Jullien’s goal being the only shot on target for the victors.
However, speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard (@ClydeSSB), Hugh Keevins pointed out that Rangers had more than half an hour to retrieve the deficit, with a one-man advantage for most of that time following the 63rd-minute dismissal of Jeremie Frimpong.

My take on it is that rangers had umpteen opportunities to score and didn’t. They failed to convert a penalty. For 30 odd minutes they couldn’t take advantage of having an extra man. And failed to score in that time. Celtic defended brilliantly and that’s it.

if rangers had put away any of the multiple chances they had then that goal wouldn’t have even mattered but they didn’t , we did.

Rangers could have played all day and not scored. At worst it was going to go to penalties and FF would have saved more.

Don’t agree they should have won, they had most of the play, and created many chances. But goals win games. Not pressure, or possession.
