Arsenal and Leicester City are battling it out to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard this summer.

According to The Telegraph, cited by the Daily Mail, the Gunners are rivalling the Foxes for the 23-year-old’s signature.

Celtic planning to insert Edouard sell-on clause

Edouard will be entering the final 12 months of his Hoops deal in the summer. Celtic previously wanted around £40m for the Frenchman, however, the latest report claims he could be allowed to leave for just £15m.

The Hoops are planning to insert a sizeable sell-on clause in any deal for Edouard this summer, with Celtic themselves having to hand over 40% of any transfer involving Edouard to Paris Saint-Germain.

Transfer Tavern take

To us, Celtic inserting a sizeable sell-on clause in a transfer this summer is the only move to make.

They’ll know first hand through PSG’s huge Edouard percentage of how lucrative they can be, so it makes sense to capitalise on that knowing the forward wants to leave and clearly has lofty ambitions.

Should a £15m deal go through, the Hoops would have to hand £6m to the French giants, meaning they could make a whopping £31m less than the £40m originally mooted.

However, by inserting a sell-on clause of their own, they could end up making that back down the line, or perhaps even more if Edouard excels in the Premier League.
