Celtic have received a boost regarding their hunt to sign Thomas Robert after Airdrie manager Ian Murray spoke out about his future.
Robert to Parkhead?
Neil Lennon’s side have been one of the sides heavily linked with a January move for the Frenchman, the son of former Newcastle United midfielder Laurent Robert.
The Bhoys backroom staff have been watching Robert closely, with the head of recruitment Nick Hammond and scout Tosh McKinlay attending games against Montrose and East Fife to witness his talent in the flesh.
The 20-year-old right-winger scored this third goal of his side’s League One campaign in a 4-2 win against Clyde, in what was an impressive display from the youngster.

Cited by Daily Record, Murray admitted that he would be surprised if offers came in for his player when the transfer window opens its doors in two days.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if we have a fight to keep him. Thomas has done really, really well,” he said.
“He showed his class again against Clyde with the corner kick, but it wasn’t just that, in the first half he was excellent, his touches on the ball, his movement, his timing in the releasing of the ball, the way he picked up space, was excellent.
“We’ve had loads of clubs looking at him, a few of them were pretty impressed.
“Were they impressed enough to make a bid, I’m not sure, but I think there are a couple who are not too far away from that.”
Transfer Tavern Verdict
It is wise for Celtic to invest in the future, and Hammond will be continuing to monitor his situation closely.
The Hoops’ squad is beginning to age in the wide areas, with the likes of James Forrest approaching 30 and with the future of Southampton loanee Mohamed Elyounoussi still uncertain, Celtic are making all of the right moves.
Time will tell if Robert makes the switch to Parkhead, and what sort of role Lennon will give him in the team if he does join the reigning champions of Scotland.
