Celtic have dropped their interest in Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, according to The Daily Record.

Ange Postecoglou was on the hunt to land a centre-back on a temporary basis on Tuesday.

Sky Sports claimed that the Hoops were looking at Carter-Vickers, however, a deal was described as difficult.

It now seems as if a move for the 23-year-old, labelled as ‘quick’ by Jonathan Woodgate, won’t materialise.

The Latest: Source shares update

The Daily Record shared a story on Tuesday afternoon, shortly after the links to Carter-Vickers emerged.

They were informed by a source close to the defender that the ‘door has closed’ on Carter-Vickers, with the Hoops dropping their interest.

The Verdict: All focus on attackers

With Carter-Vickers not looking like a Celtic addition before the deadline closes, all focus should be on getting two attacking targets signed up.

Georgios Giakoumakis has signed and Filipe Jota is expected to move to Parkhead, so getting those over the line should be viewed as crucial.

Ange Postecoglou already has five senior centre-backs, so not landing Carter-Vickers shouldn’t be the end of the world.

However, if Celtic sell Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie and fail to land their replacements, then the Hoops could have an issue.
