Celtic have given the green light for left-back Boli Bolingoli to seal his exit from the club outside of the Scottish transfer window, according to Football Insider.

The defender, who was labelled ‘arrogant’ by Bill Leckie in 2020 following a health protocol breach, has hardly featured under Ange Postecoglou this season, making just two appearances in all competitions.

The 26-year-old is out of contract in 2023 and has been linked with moves away from Celtic in the past two transfer windows.

He was set to head to Turkey prior to the 2021/22 season getting underway and was then expected to seal a January exit along with Albian Ajeti and Vasilis Barkas. However, as we know, he remains a Hoops player for now, but that could change over the next three days.

The Latest: Source shares Bolingoli update

A story from Football Insider on Thursday lunchtime suggested that the full-back has been in talks with Russian side FC Ufa over a loan move.

A Celtic source informed the site that the Hoops have given the green light for Bolingoli to seal an out-of-window exit, with the market in Russia set to close on Tuesday.

The Verdict: Correct call

Knowing that the club are happy for the defender to seal a temporary exit doesn’t come as a shock.

He appears to be surplus to requirements under Postecoglou and is on a hefty £15,000-a-week salary. Bolingoli also hasn’t kicked a ball for Celtic since October, with Greg Taylor becoming first choice at left-back.

Parkhead officials may well be keeping their fingers crossed that Bolingoli seals a loan move away, and maybe an impressive stint elsewhere could lead to a permanent exit in the summer.
