Celtic have now made a bid for Rennes right-back Sacha Boey, according to The Glasgow Evening Times.

Celtic have been linked with another Rennes right-back in Brandon Soppy prior to the rumours regarding Boey.

Fabrizio Romano claimed that the Hoops opened talks over a move for Soppy, who is valued at £6.3m by Transfermarkt.

The transfer expert once again mentioned Soppy when he shared the Hoops’ move for centre-back Carl Starfelt, but it seems as if they have now made an offer for Boey.

Either way, it is clear they are desperate for a new right-back.

The Latest: Boey bid

According to The Glasgow Evening Times, Celtic have made an offer in the region of £1m for Boey.

The 5ft 8 full-back, valued at £2.2m by Transfermarkt, has 12 months remaining on his deal.

Boey spent last season on loan at Dijon and is on just £1,600-a-week, with discussions underway between Rennes and the Hoops over a deal.

The Verdict: Sign both?

At first glance, it appears as if the Hoops have possibly looked at Boey as an alternative to Soppy. However, with Celtic having just Anthony Ralston as their only senior right-back, it may well be a case of signing both over just one, especially after a cut-price bid for Boey.

Boey, who is just 20 years of age, could represent a good piece of business from the Hoops, should they be successful with a £1m offer.

He already has 32 Ligue 1 appearances under his belt, can play as a right-back or a left-back and is a France Under-20 international. All promising signs, and hopefully a right-back will arrive in Scotland relatively soon, or possibly even two if these reports are anything to go by.
