Celtic: Marian Shved’s father drops hint about Hoops forward’s future - Celtic Transfer Rumours

The father of Celtic forward Marian Shved has spoken out about the Ukrainian winger’s future amid speculation that he will leave Parkhead.

The Daily Record claimed that the 22-year-old is set to depart Glasgow soon, either on loan or permanently, with Hungarian side Ferencvaros reportedly linked with him.

Vasily Shved spoke publicly about what lies next for his son, saying (via Daily Record): “I think there will be clarity about Marian’s next club very soon. It’s in the hands of his agent now.

“The Scottish league was ended prematurely and Marian returned home due to the coronavirus and he kept himself in very good shape here.

“He’s 22 years old, plays for a top European team and is in the Ukraine squad, so he is fine. He still has a great future ahead of him.”

Shved signed for Celtic back in January 2019 and was initially loaned back to Karpaty Lviv in his homeland but, upon returning to Glasgow, he has been starved of game-time.

The Hoops played 53 matches in the 2019/20 season before it was curtailed but the 22-year-old winger featured in only three of those, playing a paltry total of 40 minutes – although he did score against Nomme Kalju in a Champions League qualifier 11 months ago.

His only other outings came in brief substitute appearances in a 6-0 league romp over Ross County last October and a five-minute Scottish Cup cameo against Clyde in February. In every other Celtic match since the end of August, he wasn’t even named among the substitutes. [via TransferMarkt]

Shved clearly has scant hope of ever making an impression at Celtic, where Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie, Leigh Griffiths, James Forrest and Callum McGregor have all been prolific in recent months.

Do you think Celtic should have given Shved more of a chance?

Yes

No

No

Lennon evidently feels he can manage without him and the winger is doing his career no good on the Parkhead periphery, so it will likely come as a relief to all parties that his father has now indicated that the 22-year-old’s next career move should soon become known.

Celtic fans, are you any bit surprised that Shved seems to be on his way out of the club? Comment below with your views!
