Reliable reporter Alan Nixon has poured water on fresh links regarding Celtic and Aaron Hickey.
The Lowdown: Offer claims
The Hoops have been linked with the left-back, who currently plies his trade with Bologna, in recent days.
Reports from Italy, cited by Glasgow Live, suggested that Celtic have tabled a £3m bid for the 19-year-old.
The Scot addressed the links, admitting he is ‘fully aware’ of Celtic’s interest, however, Nixon has a different take on things.
The Latest: Nixon responds
He replied, confirming Celtic’s long-term interest before a telling six-word admission.
“Celtic have a long term interest in Hickey. But there’s been nothing tried recently.”
The Verdict: Time for Celtic to move?
With Nixon revealing there has been no offer made recently, perhaps now is the time to act, especially with the player aware the Hoops are sniffing around his services.
Celtic could do with a new left-back after Diego Laxalt’s loan spell, with Boli Bolingoli set to return from his loan away from Parkhead after Istanbul Basaksehir decided against exercising the option to buy the defender.
Greg Taylor is also on the books at Parkhead, but bringing in someone like Hickey, who can play anywhere across the backline, could be a handy addition.
