Celtic transfer target Siriki Dembele was absent from Peterborough United’s squad on the opening weekend of the new Championship season, as per The Daily Record.
The Lowdown: Dembele links
The Hoops have been linked with a move for Karamoko Dembele’s older brother for some time now.
Reports back in November believed that Celtic were pushing hardest out of a number of clubs for the 24-year-old. A move never materialised in January, but links once again resurfaced in March claiming that a summer move was being considered.
How many more signings do Celtic need this summer?
The Latest: Weekend absence
The Daily Record claimed that both Celtic and Rangers have been touted for a move for Dembele after he was transfer-listed by Peterborough.
Dembele was left out of Peterborough’s squad entirely in their 3-0 defeat to Luton Town on Saturday, which have sparked rumours of a potential move to Scotland once again.
The report claims that Bournemouth, Fulham and Stoke City have also been linked with Dembele.
The Verdict: Time to act?
Ange Postecoglou still wants to bring another winger to Celtic Park this summer, and adding the 24-year-old to the club’s attacking ranks would also give him another option when it comes to centre-forwards.
Dembele has just come off the back of an excellent campaign in England and seems to be available for transfer, so perhaps his younger brother Karamoko could help the Hoops to win the race for his sibling’s services.
