Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has told friends he will be quitting Parkhead for Leicester City this summer, Football Insider report.

The Lowdown: Leicester’s long-standing interest

The Foxes have been linked with a move for Edouard in the last few transfer windows.

Former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was the man to sign Edouard for the Hoops, and he now wants to reunite with the Frenchman in the Premier League.

Edouard has had his heart set on a Celtic exit for a number of months, and his latest admission has only added fuel to his Parkhead exit fire.

The Latest: Edouard’s private discussions

According to Football Insider, ‘Edouard has told friends he is quitting Celtic’ - a huge eight-word claim with the transfer window opening on Wednesday.

A recruitment source has informed the website that the 23-year-old should complete a move to the King Power after agreeing on personal terms.

The Verdict: Mixed news for McKay?

Edouard informing his friends he is quitting for the Foxes obviously isn’t great news for new Celtic CEO Dominic McKay, who is yet to bring in a new manager or director of football.

However, what should sweeten the news of a pending exit for the forward is the fee Celtic appear to be in line to receive. Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph claimed a deal could be worth £18m.

Edouard’s current Hoops deal has just 12 months left to run, so if his situation remained the same and he stayed in Glasgow, he could discuss a free transfer in January for the 2022/23 season.

Of course, losing a player who has scored 83 goals in 168 appearances is never ideal, but at least the Hoops will be receiving a relatively high fee when you weigh up the current situation.
