Southampton have set their sights on signing Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi, according to Calciomercato.com.
The Lowdown: Howe after Saints job?
Celtic brought in Ange Postecoglou as manager over the summer after they tried and failed to bring in Eddie Howe.
The Hoops offered Howe the Parkhead post but he kept them waiting and pulled out of talks after two months of discussions.
How many goals will Furuhashi score this season?
The Latest: Furuhashi interest
Calciomercato.com shared a story late on Monday evening, suggesting Southampton are interested in Furuhashi.
The Verdict: Must keep
Unless a mouth-watering offer arrives from Southampton, the Hoops need to keep hold of the Japan international, who Callum McGregor described as ‘first class’.
A £4.86m move looks like a bargain at this moment in time following his start to life in Scotland, and hopefully, he’ll only get better once the Hoops get into their stride as a whole during the course of the campaign.
It’s good to see Furuhashi’s displays are being recognised, though, but Celtic should be under no pressure to sell as he is just three months into a four-year deal.
