Celtic were apparently keen to take Liverpool winger Harry Wilson on loan when the transfer window was still open, but no move came to fruition. However, there has been a transfer update which might see the Hoops miss out on the attacker if they do have any desires to take him in January.
Wilson has struggled to break into the first team under Jurgen Klopp, and whilst being a Liverpool player, he has been loaned out to four different sides in five years.
The 23 year-old is still young, so this isn’t a problem, but he will be wanting to impress sooner rather than later if he wants to stay at the Reds.
What is the latest update on Celtic transfer target Harry Wilson?
The Daily Mail are reporting that the player is being offered to Championship sides who could take him on loan before the domestic transfer window in England closes on Friday.
Teams like Swansea City, Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Cardiff are interested in the 23 year-old. With Celtic not able to make a move, they might lose out on their transfer target.
Should Neil Lennon and Celtic be worried about missing out on Wilson?
Wilson has a very respectable goal-contribution record as he has managed 65 goals and 30 assists in 175 appearances, per Transfermarkt. He has already scored three times in 17 appearances for Wales and the amount of goals and appearances that he has at such a young age highlights that he has potential to succeed at a very high level.
Should Celtic look to sign Harry Wilson in January?
Celtic is a good place to get some great experience, and with the Hoops winning the Scottish Premiership for the last nine seasons, he would be surrounded by some very good players who could teach him a lot, if he did make a move.
However, with the Hoops not being able to act until January, Wilson might have to go and play football in the Championship to make a name for himself and keep himself on the football pitch in meaningful games. In truth, the player should be more worried about missing out on a move to Celtic rather than the other way round.
