Chelsea boss admits defeat in transfer battle

The Football Transfer Tavern’s favourite manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Chelsea are not about to make another bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, according to Sky Sports.

The ongoing transfer saga seems to be over once and for all as Mourinho confirms that he was lead a false line on the England striker who was seemingly always going to stay at Old Trafford.

Mourinho once again lost to Pep Guardiola in the European Super Cup last night despite the Chelsea boss boasting and encouraging the Blues fans to celebrate before the final whistle.

Mourinho must not have read the script as his record against Pep Guardiola is less than impressive.

It is not the first time that the flamboyant Blues boss has embarrassed himself while being related to the West London club but it seems that the former Real Madrid boss has given up on signing Rooney no matter what happens between now and Monday night.

“For all parties, it’s finished. One thing is to tell you through other people that you want, you want, you want very much, but at the end of the day,” Mourinho said.

“It’s the end. We have a good group.

“Samuel will give us other kind of qualities in attack. He is an experienced player in a team that needs some experienced players.”

“I feel everyone has the right to show his life, his future and I respect that.”

Chelsea fans. Having failed in your pursuit of Wayne Rooney, is the current squad strong enough to launch a title bid?
