It’s all a bit up in the air at Chelsea, at the moment. Star man Eden Hazard has recently been unveiled as a Real Madrid player, Maurizio Sarri is said to be close to leaving the club to join Juventus after helping the Blues win the Europa League and their transfer ban is looming.
We think it’s fair to say, then, that optimism amongst fans is at least somewhat reserved until they can see the light at the end of the tunnel and figure out how their beloved side are going to tackle the extensive problems that lie ahead.
That being said, we’re going to take a look at which ‘nightmare’ fixtures are possibly going to jeopardise Chelsea’s goals…
Manchester United vs Chelsea: Saturday 11 August 2019
Given everything that is going on at the moment, it is absolutely vital that Chelsea get off to a good start next season against Manchester United – a team who will also be keen on bouncing back – to prove to themselves that they don’t need 16 goals and 15 assists Eden Hazard to succeed.
However, it’s probably worth noting that Chelsea have lost two, won one and drawn two against United in their previous five Premier League meetings, and that’s with the Belgian wing-wizard at their disposal.
Indeed, the odds might be stacked against them, and we’re not expecting fireworks given their transfer ban has recently been upheld, according to The Sun.
But this is football, and anything can happen. With a point to prove and Manchester United’s home form questionable at best (two clean sheets kept the whole season of last season), if there was ever a time to go to Old Trafford, it’s now.

We don’t yet know if Wolves are going to replicate the form they showed this past season against the “big six” which saw them take points from Arsenal, Spurs, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea. Nor are we particularly sure how well the Blues are going to negotiate the upcoming turbulence.
However, should both sides enjoy a fine season, and the league standings sit in the balance, then this May matchup could well be the difference between Europa League and Champions League football; or no European football at all, for that matter.
