Ben Chilwell has given his first club interview since he joined Chelsea earlier this week.
The England international became part of Frank Lampard’s lavish spending after Leicester agreed to sell up for a fee of £50million (via BBC Sport). He is one of two major defensive signings so far, with Thiago Silva also announced this week.
Chelsea highlighted their defence as an area of weakness and are doing well to strengthen accordingly. It seems fans are also pleased with the signing after they flooded the comments of the club’s recent Instagram post showing a clip of Chilwell’s first interview in blue.

Supporters will now hope Lampard can coax in a new goalkeeper before the window closes. Kepa Arrizabalaga’s unconvincing performances in goal last season have made up the manager’s mind on his future. The Stamford Bridge icon has made it clear that Kepa is not a part of his plans moving forward.
Chelsea have been linked to the likes of Jan Oblak – who has a hefty £110million release clause – and Nick Pope who could be an option that’s a bit lighter on the bank balance.
Chilwell will become part of a side undergoing a heavy and exciting transitional period. Lampard will hope that his hard work this summer will pay off when his side is climbing the Premier League table in a few weeks’ time.
