Willian was the standout performer when Chelsea beat Tottenham 2-0 on Sunday night, and his showing meant they’re now six points ahead of Jose Mourinho’s men in the table. A Spurs win would have seen them take fourth spot, but it’s Willian and Chelsea who hold onto the ever-so-important position.
The 31-year-old was rated 9.19/10 by WhoScored for the game, which saw him score two and pick up Sky Sports’ Man of the Match award. He’s had a solid first half to the season as a whole too, being the highest WhoScored-rated player on average in the whole squad at 7.35/10, and his four goals and three assists will certainly have helped that.
Chelsea fan Alex Goldberg tweeted to pay tribute to the Brazilian, who’s out of contract at the end of the season. He said, “outrageous from Willian” and labelled his showing a “masterclass”. Plenty of Chelsea fans agreed too, with some of them replying to the tweet to say how pleased they were with his game. Some even called for him to be given a new contract on the back of it.
Outrageous from Willian. Outrageous.
Masterclass.
