Christian Pulisic has experienced a slow start to life in a Chelsea shirt.
The American is yet to open his account for his new side and was left out of Frank Lampard’s starting XI for the Blues’ two recent games against Wolves and Valencia.
However, with Mason Mount set to miss this Sunday’s visit of current league leaders Liverpool with an ankle injury sustained against Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday night, the 21-year-old could well be thrust back into the mix against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Mount’s injury isn’t thought to be serious, after scans showed that the England international hadn’t damaged ligaments in his ankle, though he is unlikely to play a part in this weekend’s clash at Stamford Bridge, per the Athletic.
This gives Pulisic the perfect opportunity to step up to the plate in his teammate’s potential absence, with a Premier League goal against the Reds the ideal chance for him to prove that he’s good enough to start for the west Londoners this term.
