Many Chelsea fans were left cursing Kepa Arrizabalaga after the goalkeeper’s error for the concluding goal in the Blues’ defeat at Everton this afternoon.
With Frank Lampard’s side trailing 2-1 in the 84th minute after Mateo Kovacic had pulled a goal back, the Spanish goalkeeper was guilty of a dreadful pass that was intercepted by Theo Walcott ahead of Kurt Zouma. [via Sky Sports]
The ball was eventually worked to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, whose scruffy finish saw him score his second goal of the game and Everton’s third on a disastrous day for Chelsea, who have now lost three of their last four Premier League matches.
Although he made four saves, Arrizabalaga endured a tough afternoon at Goodison Park. Oliver Harbord of Football London gave the 25-year-old a paltry three in his player ratings, saying that the Toffees’ third goal “was all his fault”. The Daily Star‘s Mark Taylor derided the goalkeeper’s mistake for the goal as “shambolic”.
These Chelsea fans on Twitter also tore into Arrizabalaga following that calamitous moment:
