Chelsea will finally be able to sign players in January after their transfer ban was lifted, and one report suggests they’re out to bring in one of the world’s top young talents. Sport 1 reported that the Blues will offer 16-year-old Bayern Munich prospect Torben Rhein a professional contract, and fans took the news with good humour.
The reason they were banned from signing players in the first place is because they were found to have played young players in their youth teams without having registered them. Fans saw the news that their club were pursuing another player under 18, and this one, in particular, has made nine appearances for Bayern’s under 19s this season, assisting five and scoring one, according to Transfermarkt.
When the news of the report was shared on Twitter by fan account @TheBlues_ supporters were quick to joke about the possibility of them breaching another rule and being banned once again. Many seemed more interested in joking about the ban than who the player actually is.
