Chelsea fans react as N’Golo Kante pens a new contract

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has signed a new five-year deal that extends his stay at Stamford Bridge until 2023.

The Blues star has been ever-present in Maurizio Sarri’s team this season, playing every single minute in the Premier League campaign, aiding with a goal and an assist within that time to help the West Londoners to an unbeaten start after 12 games of the season.

However, it is not the attacking output statistics that should define Kante – instead, one that represents his tireless work-rate and ball recovery capabilities, with the former Leicester City man arguably the best in the world at what he does in the middle of the park.

Since joining Chelsea in 2016, Kante has made more interceptions that anyone in the Premier League (177), with only Everton’s Idrissa Gueye making more tackles (310) than the France World Cup winner (262).
