Chelsea: Fans react to Kepa’s display against Ajax

Chelsea made it two wins from two in the Champions League last night, beating last season’s semi-finalists – Ajax – 1-0 in their group stage clash at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

The Blues dealt with an onslaught of pressure from the Dutch champions in the first-half well, with Michy Batshuayi finding the net four minutes from time with a finish from close-range.

With possession split almost evenly, and Ajax taking 10 shots on goal to Chelsea’s 16, it was by no means a one-sided contest, though Frank Lampard’s resilient young side showed maturity with their performance and ultimately returned to England with a vital three points.

Chelsea now sit top of Group H after three games, while Ajax drop to second, behind the west Londoners on goal difference alone after last night’s result.

One of the biggest positives from last night’s performance was the fact that the Blues kept a clean sheet, which was of course largely down to goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who put in a solid performance in Holland. Indeed, he also hit the mark with 9 out of 19 of his long balls (per WhoScored), proving his worth as a reasonably effective outlet.
