Chelsea: Fans want Pulisic to start against Grimsby

Chelsea welcome League Two outfit Grimsby Town to Stamford Bridge tomorrow evening in the Carabao Cup.

Blues manager Frank Lampard is expected to make wholesale changes to the team who faced Liverpool on Sunday, with the club’s lesser-used players and those returning from injury possibly in line to be given a run out against the Mariners.

“We certainly need to look at players who haven’t been playing as much against Grimsby. We’ll pay them due respect, but it certainly is minutes for certain players who haven’t been there,” Lampard told the Fifth Stand (via Football.London).

The likes of Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi are now expected to feature in some capacity, while Christian Pulisic, who signed for £58 million, will also be hoping for some minutes having been an unused substitute during the Blues’ previous three games against Wolves, Valencia and Liverpool.

Pulisic, who joined the club from Borussia Dortmund in January – but made the official switch to west London in the summer – has fallen below the likes of Mason Mount and Willian in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge of late, much to the disagreement of these Chelsea fans, who clearly feel as though the 21-year-old should be given more of a chance in Frank Lampard’s starting XI.
