Olivier Giroud has seen first-team chances limited this season due to the scintillating form of Tammy Abraham.
The Frenchman, who joined the Blues from Arsenal in 2018, was influential for the west London outfit last term as they won the Europa League. Giroud finished as the competition’s leading goalscorer after finding the net 11 times, and scored in the final as Maurizio Sarri’s men beat Arsenal 4-1 in Baku.
This season, however, Giroud has made just three Premier League appearances for Chelsea – one coming from the start – with Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi seemingly preferred up front in Frank Lampard’s starting XI.
Indeed, it is understandable to see why, considering Abraham has scored eight goals this season and is the division’s joint-top goalscorer, while Batshuayi has notched three goals himself in all competitions.
Giroud’s lack of action this season has led to transfer speculation linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge in January, with Blues fans keen to see him go – as some call on the club to acquire Wilfried Zaha in return, as shown by these Tweets below…
