Frank Lampard has lauded Ross Barkley’s recent form, following another goalscoring performance.
Chelsea ran out 3-0 winners over Watford at the weekend thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud, Willian and Barkley (via BBC Sport). The Blues have boosted their chances of securing Champions League football next season, keeping a vital distance between them and fellow challengers Manchester United.
In his post-match conference, Lampard spoke highly of Barkley, who has been in a run of positive form since the restart.
“He has got great quality and I knew that. I think what he is doing is he is playing a very complete role,” the former ex-Chelsea midfielder said. “Obviously, he always has that goal threat with his technical qualities: right and left foot, great strikes. I have seen that and Ross has been absolutely dedicated to the cause.”
Should Ross Barkley become a regular starter for Chelsea?
Barkley has three goal contributions in Chelsea’s five games since English football resumed, including his winning goal against Leicester to see the Blues into the FA Cup semi-finals. His tally for this season sees him with five goals and five assists to his name so far, with further matches to be played to boost those numbers (via Transfermarkt).
“I am delighted with him and he just needs to keep those levels,” Lampard continued. “There is more to come, there is more to come and his attitude has been first class.”
The £19.3million-rated ace could be steadily building a foundation at Stamford Bridge, especially if the manager is noticing his talent and hard work.
